What Are We Doing?

A question of character (October 21, 2017)

When a report by the Citizens for Government Accountability identified several past and current problems with the work of Marc Puckett, who is now the Assistant Manager for Finance in the Town of Apple Valley, the Town Council completely avoiding responding substantively (Investigation: Flint / Apple Valley Connection). Instead, Barb Stanton, Curt Emick, and Art Bishop vouched for Mr. Puckett’s character.

But then when Mr. Puckett’s car slammed into the back of another car in the I-15 in Rancho Cucamonga, the Town Council suddenly fell silent, leaving it to the interim Town Manager to say merely that this was a personal matter, implying that Mr. Puckett leaving the scene of a hit-and-run accident did not directly involve the town. While that did temporarily get the Town off the hook in terms of dealing with this matter, it did nothing to address Mr. Puckett’s bizarre (and false) statements regarding the incident.

The CHP has now been investigating this matter for three months with no arrest or even statement. To those of us wondering what kind of persons are running our Town government, it certainly looks as though the fix is in to protect Puckett.

Meanwhile, we have learned that Mr. Puckett has been cited ten times in San Bernardino County alone for other traffic violations.

What we are left with is a person said to be of great character when his sub-standard work is questioned, yet who has no defenders when his character is called into question.

Meanwhile, Mr. Puckett continues to turn out defective work for the Town of Apple Valley, at an annual cost to the taxpayers of more than $322,715 .

What is it going to take to get the FBI and the District Attorney’s Office to investigate Apple Valley the way they investigated Beaumont?
