Production totals from the golf course well

Jeff,

In addition to the water used from Ranchos through the irrigation meter on Tomahawk (we have to transfer 110% of our water rights in trade based on what we used under the deviated rate agreement), each year the estimated pumpage from the well must also be determined so it can be reported to the watermaster. This is determined based upon total power consumption at the well and it must be reported to the watermaster at the end of the water year which is the end of September. The report is required under the terms of the adjudication of water rights in this groundwater basin. In the past, this report was prepared by Nick Hanson annually for submittal to the Watermaster and he prepared the reports even before the Town was involved at the Golf Course.

In addition to the reported pumpage to the watermaster, I need to gage how much additional water (if any) we might need to buy from other water right holders, so we can balance our expected usage with our production rights at the conclusion of the water year. I need to know what your EWAG (educated wild-ass guess) is for how much water the Golf Course will use (both purchased from Ranchos and pumped from the well combined) through the remainder of the water year (end of September). That way I can have an appropriate amount of water transferred to the Town now, from a willing seller, so we don’t have to purchase water from the Watermaster at an increased price. We will save a minimum of 10%, or about $40 per acre-foot by purchasing water on the open market, rather than paying the watermaster for imported water. Please take a look at the forms that Nick previously prepared and let me know if this is something that you can figure out or whether we will need to have a water rights 101 training session to keep from having a problem. I need to purchase any additional water and submit the required transfer documents to the watermaster no later than August 22nd if not sooner.

Dennis

Dennis,

I have tracked down all of the Watermaster paterwork. Been looking this over and trying to educate myself, and I still have several questions. Would you have some time to go over this with me?

Thanks,

Jeff

Jeff,

I spoke with Dennis about this and we would like to meet with you soon. I will be off next week so we would like to meet sometime during the week of August 18th. I will contact you when I return to set up a date that week with you. For now, can you please send Dennis and I the meter reading this month for the Ranchos meter on Tomahawk?

Thanks,

Tina

Sure, Just give me a date and time. I have all the paper work handy. Attached are the meter numbers…

Also, i don’t know who to speak with regarding the internet in the maintenance department. since last week we have not had any internet. it is with verizon, but i have no account information information to give verizon for service. They say i need this to get service. It was apparently set up by the town several months back. I called and left a message with Jason in IT, but i have not heard back.

RE: Production totals from the golf course well

Hi Jeff,

Dennis said we probably don’t actually need to meet because I compute the information the Watermaster needs quarterly. However, Dennis does need to know how much water usage you estimate will be used to irrigate the golf course from Apple Valley Ranchos through the end of the water year which is September, 2014. Please let us know the estimated water usage from now until the end of the September.

Thanks,

Re: Production totals from the golf course well

Tina,

Here is my EWAG for the rest of the year:

Based on past usage, past Watermaster records of our well output, plant needs, and our potential weather I estimate a need from Aug 20th through Sept 31 for about 78-80 acre-feet.

- 50-52 Acre-feet from Ranchos

- 28 Acre-feet from the well based on past output

I have read and re-read everything regarding the Watermaster documents and i think I understand the rights issue, but i would like at some point to meet so i can fully wrap my head around the rights issues.

Please let me know if this is what you need, or if there is anything else you need me to do.

Jeff
