Letter: Why is Liberty delaying? (September 5, 2017)
The Town of Apple Valley is in an excellent position to win its legal battle to take over the water system. The court can see clearly that the public interest is better served with local control over such a precious resource, and also that the public strongly supports the efforts of the town.
With Measure F in place, the town is ready to purchase the water company today. So why is Liberty Utilities interested in delaying the process? Could it be because every day that Liberty drags the case out, it gets to continue supplying us with water at the highest rates in the High Desert?
Come on, Liberty. Come to your senses. Save your shareholders the millions you are spending on this lawsuit. Your delaying tactics may result in a judge setting a lower price. Sell to the town now.
