Water security (October 10, 2016)

Rick Piercy says he wants Liberty Utilities to give him assurances as to the security of our water, otherwise, he supports the Town of Apple Valley taking over the water system (Transparency at Liberty Utilities, Daily Press, October 10, 2016).

I’d like to hear from Mr. Piercy how the Town could give him assurances as to the security of our water? But first, is this the same Town that can’t fix a drinking fountain? The same Town that can’t fix a running toilet? The same Town that can’t repair leaks in drip irrigation systems? The same Town that can’t adjust a Rainbird? The same Town that won’t maintain the power supply for our emergency responders communication system? That Town?

Is Mr. Piercy referring to the same Town that cut the locks on one of Liberty Utilities’ vaults to gain access to water? That Town?

Is Mr. Piercy referring to the same Town that posts signs welcoming people no matter what their current intentions or past actions have been? That Town?

Is Mr. Piercy referring to the same Town that wants to install metal detectors at Town Hall because it is so afraid of citizens who come to address the Town Council? That Town?

Is Mr. Piercy referring to the same Town that is allowing our streets to turn to rubble, and did virtually no preparation for last year’s El Nino? That Town?

If so, then Mr. Piercy is apparently in favor of an illusory future security instead of the real security we already enjoy with Liberty Utilities in charge of our water system.

As they say, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Let the adults at Liberty Utilities run our water system. The incompetents in Town Hall are already in way over their heads.
