Thank you, Al and Leane (November 2, 2015)
I just wanted to take a moment to thank two special persons in our community: Alvin Rice and Leane Lee.
Each has provided help and guidance to those of us who oppose the Town of Apple Valley’s hostile takeover of Apple Valley Ranchos Water Company, but in addition to my personal thanks, this thank you
is also on behalf of the community.
I don’t imagine either one of you dreamed that your retirement would include pouring through reams of documents from the Town of Apple Valley, after having to fight to get the documents in the first place. I don’t imagine either one of you dreamed that you’d have to spend hours every day untangling the Town’s miserable accounting, and correcting the Town’s highly-paid staff on matters such as how to count, how to add, and how to copy figures from one page to another without error. I don’t imagine either one of you dreamed you’d be fighting incompetence and corruption in our small town.
So for this and more, thank you. For continuing with your labors despite the ingratitude of the Town and the apathy of many of your fellow residents, thank you. You define what it means to be good citizens.
